Year 6 has stepped into the sensational and fiery world of dragons in English. We began our unit Informative Texts on dragons with a treasure hunt that enlisted the help of our very own Ms Faraja, Mr Lugombe, Miss Hanlon and Mr Turner where Year 6 ‘hunted’ around the school for clues to find a special, stolen dragon and her precious clutch of eggs. In Science, our learning on Light and Reflection led to some very interesting investigations on reflective surfaces around school, their degree of reflection and their real-life purpose. We also made some periscopes that serve to prove the Law of Reflection. We are always impressed at the curious and intelligent questions of our students and their understanding of the Scientific Method as we engage in these experiences. In Maths, we have been busy working on decimals. Last week, we took advantage of the ‘no pens or pencils’ day and spent our Maths lesson outside making multiplication questions with decimals to solve in partner pairs. What fun!
