Year 5

Year 5

Year 5 have had a beautifully settled week this week with everyone synching beautifully in the routines and expectations of Upper Key Stage Two! Wow!

In Mathematics, we have continued with determining digit values and been working with increasingly greater whole numbers as well as decimal numbers too. In English, we have started our story on Cogston House with the children making some very insightful predictions as well as lots of inferences as we examine the text in detail. Why not ask your child what they think will happen next? And what they think of the characters in the story?

We also had a really interesting conversation in RE about music in relation to worth and worship and talked about how different pieces of music might remind us of a person, place or specific memory in our life.

In Geography, the students carried out their own independent research to find out about natural resources of Africa and came up with some amazing facts about the abundance of our continent including diamonds, gold, petroleum, tanzanite, coffee, tea and more!

We look forward to the upcoming weeks which will include our first trip of the year to Africraft as well as our PSHE assembly coming soon too!

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Bey
