Year 5

16th September 2023

We can’t believe it is Week 3 already! We are definitely feeling more settled being back in school now and confident with the routines, timetables and structure of our day. We are also really enjoying attending a range of Extra-Curricular activities.

This week, we made some great progress with our Extra Learning Activities - as you may know, our focus this term is STEAM and as a class we decided on a really exciting project. Ask your children what they are working on, is it an alien, a model home or a planet?!

In Maths, we particularly enjoyed using cards to investigate numbers this week. We looked at the greatest number we can make, the smallest and then explored how close or far we could get to a particular 5 or 6 digit number.

We also really had a great RE lesson where we learnt about how music is linked to worship. We listened to and analysed a range of different music and chants and thought about how different religions use music as part of their faith and how music impacts our emotions. We also imagined what the world would be like if we didn’t have music and unanimously concluded that we would not like that at all!

Next week, we are looking forward to International Day of Peace as well as our Science experiment which is all investigating insulators and conductors.

Have a lovely weekend!
