It was a busy week for Year 5, filled with lots of activities.
The children were learning to write a play script and as a result, they were able to turn Greek myths into amazing short plays that they performed for their peers.
In Mathematics, we have begun exploring the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes and polygons. In one of the photos, Year 5 students are measuring the perimeter of a monkey bar in the school garden.
Science lessons were full of surprises during this week, as we went on a plant scavenger hunt around the school campus, looking for different ways of reproduction in plants. We were amazed to find so many different types of plants-including sugarcane-around our school campus. The children learnt that some plants grow seeds while others can reproduce by cuttings, growing runners or bulbs.
Our Geography lesson fell on Number Day and therefore was closely linked to Mathematics. The children had fun solving geographical puzzles in search of the hidden numbers.
Ancient Greece is our History topic for this term and this week, we were looking at the lifestyle of two famous Ancient Greek cities: Sparta and Athens. If you ask a Year 5 student about the life of a Spartan, you may hear some fascinating facts!
