Year 4 & 5 Trip to Zanzibar: Highlights of Learning and Adventure:
The Wonders Beneath the Waves
Our journey to Zanzibar started with an incredible diving adventure at Paje Beach. The crystal-clear waters revealed a vibrant underwater world. Whether exploring the sea or relaxing in the pool, we all found moments of peace and excitement. The professional diving instructors guided us through the basics and beyond, ensuring everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience.
Learning at the Seaweed Farm
A visit to the seaweed farm was an eye-opening experience. We learned about the process of cultivating seaweed and its significance to the local economy. Seeing how seaweed is grown and harvested was fascinating, and we gained a deeper understanding of its many uses.
The Spice Farm Tour
The spice farm tour was a sensory delight. We wandered through lush plantations, smelling and tasting a variety of spices. Our knowledgeable guides taught us about the medicinal and culinary uses of spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and pepper.
Wildlife Encounters at Prison Island
Prison Island offered a unique opportunity to connect with nature, particularly with the giant tortoises that reside there. These ancient creatures, some of which are over a hundred years old, captivated us with their slow, deliberate movements and friendly manner.
Relaxation at Maru Maru Hotel
After our adventures, the Maru Maru Hotel in Stone Town offered the perfect place to unwind. The hotel's beautiful architecture, comfortable rooms, and stunning views provided a calm backdrop for our evenings. We enjoyed delicious local cuisine on the rooftop terrace and reflections on our experiences. The hotel's warm hospitality made us feel at home, ensuring a relaxing end to each adventurous day.
