Year 3

16th March 2024

This week started in a very unusual way, as the whole Primary School took a trip to Kigamboni zoo. The children were excited to travel on the bus, to see the animals and to learn more about the natural world. Later on in the week, the children used their experience from the trip to plan and write their own adventure stories during the English lessons.

In History, Year 3 students are learning about the past of Dar-es-Salaam. Many fascinating discoveries were made by the children, as they looked at the old photographs and maps that show what Dar-es-Salaam looked like in the past. We were investigating and comparing art, transportation, clothing and houses in Dar-es-Salaam then and now. All children are looking forward to their trip to Makumbusho Village museum on Thursday, 21st March, which will allow them to explore even more aspects of life in the past.

Another interesting topic that we are learning about is the Science unit about muscles and joints. The children have been learning how muscles and joints work to support posture and movement of our bodies. The children had a lot of fun during the investigation lesson, measuring the force exerted by biceps and triceps. Why not ask your little learners about it at home?

I hope you enjoy looking at the photos!
