Year 3 Highlights: Learning, Experiments, and Creativity in Full Swing!

5th October 2024

It has been 6 amazing weeks since the start of this academic year and Year 3 students are fully immersed into school life of learning, activities and fun.

In Mathematics, the students completed the first unit of Place Value and are currently learning a new concept of adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers with exchange.

Science lessons have been fun for both students and teachers, as we are experimenting with how the human skeleton supports the movement and posture of a human body. We have completed 2 experiments so far, the first one was ‘Can  people with longer femur jump further?’ and the second was using the pipe cleaners and the plastic straws to learn what makes human backs so flexible. Please ask your children at home about these experiments, as I am sure they will be delighted to share their observations with you.

In English, we are coming to the end of our Narrative unit and the students are in the final stages of writing their own Wishing Tales. The stories are turning out to be quite captivating and I  will send a copy for the parents to enjoy.

Please continue to read with your child at least 3 times per week and please write a short comment in the Reading Log. It cannot be emphasised enough how important frequent reading is for children, as they learn new vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, expand their comprehension and then link it with their writing.

Year 3 students are very excited about the upcoming production and they are looking forward to more exciting activities later in the term.
