Year 2

4th March 2024

Year 2 has had a blast learning about India in Geography lessons. We have loved trying out lots of different activities on our India Day. Year 2 is so creative, they got busy with lots of crafts-

  1. Rangoli patterns using coloured powder and tissue paper.
  2. Henna design using real henna cones.
  3. Peacock craft- did you know it is the national bird of India!?

We also tried Bollywood/ Bhangra dancing, which we loved, and learned about the traditions of a Hindu wedding. We enjoyed getting into the kitchen and practising our cutting and cooking skills by making bhajias with Mrs Pujani. Helping out in the kitchen is a great way for children to practise and apply maths and fine motor skills. We ended our day by enjoying an Indian feast- we tasted different sweet and savoury snacks from different regions of India.

In Maths we have started learning about multiplication and division and have started to learn our 2, 5 and 10 times tables by heart. I am really impressed with the fast learning and recall of these concepts across the class.
