Year 2 Trip

5th October 2024

The Year 2 children enjoyed their trip to the National Museum this week. They were all outstanding listeners and respectful ambassadors for the school. Top highlights included- learning about life in pre- independence Tanganyika by cutting nyama using a traditional stone knife, having a go at weaving palm leaves to make a mat (though this was very tricky- we need much more practise) and grinding millet to make flour. We loved looking at the skulls and fossils in the part of the museum teaching about ancient history. We also loved looking at the photos, paintings and artefacts about more modern history and Tanzania’s struggle for freedom and independence. We were particularly excited to see pictures and paintings of Nyerere, Baba wa Taifa!

The children enjoyed their KFC meal very much and left only bones behind- what a special treat!!

The children were keen to visit the museum again with their families and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
