Recently in Year 2, we have been working on writing recipes. Not only did we write recipes; learning about the key vocabulary and the style of writing, we also got to COOK! We loved making kashata- a fun and simple recipe that requires a few easy to find ingredients- coconut, sugar, water and food colouring! You can find the recipe here if you wish to try making it again at home, although I am sure you may have your own tried and tested recipes too. Cooking is a great way for children to gain important skills and have fun in the kitchen.
We have also been learning about crops and farming in Geography lessons. Every time we eat, we can thank a hard working farmer who sowed the seeds, tended the crops, harvested them and sent them off to the towns and cities to be bought from the busy markets. Some of the children in Year 2 are lucky enough to have a farm in the family! Really impressive.
This week we have been super busy preparing for our Anti Bullying Assembly, to mark the end of Anti Bullying Week! The children felt strongly about this topic and really wanted to spread the anti- bullying message: THIS IS A BULLY FREE ZONE! I am so proud that the children feel so strongly about this important topic. What a kind hearted class Year 2 is!!
