Year 1

8th June 2024

This week, Year 1 students have enjoyed celebrating World Environment Day. They learned various ways to improve our soil by restoring degraded land and planting fruits and vegetables. They have also continued to take pleasure in looking after their gardens next to the spare Year 1 classroom.

In English, the students wrote beautiful poems about food and learned how to use different poetic language. In Mathematics, they enjoyed identifying numbers in tens and ones. In History, they explored toys from the past and present, examining the different materials used and how they have changed over time.

In STEM, the students faced a challenge to build a structure or object that is waterproof. They had to decide which materials are waterproof and suitable for building. In the end, we tested our objects by splashing them with water to see if they were indeed waterproof.
