It’s been a busy week in Upper School with lots of settling and learning taking place. Here’s a snippet of what the students have been working on.
Year 4
We have dived right into lessons this week. In Mathematics, we’ve enjoyed ordering numbers with four digits and challenged ourselves with numbers above ten thousand. Wow! In English, we’ve enjoyed sharing stories about how we spent our summer holiday and we even took some time to write our own diary entries with lots of interesting details.

Year 5
Year 5 has had a fantastic week! We have been learning all about place value in more detail than ever before and getting our times tables in order so that we are ready for the extra challenges that lie ahead. In English, we created an amazing jigsaw of ourselves that fits together to create our whole class puzzle of us. We have also started reading the book Holes and can’t wait to see what happens next! We also had great discussions in RE about worth and worship, focusing on what has value to us and whether worth and value are always synonymous with expense. Next week, we will be diving into Cogston House, a mystery story full of suspense, excitement and danger!

Year 6
It is surreal to realise that this is the students final year in primary. Year 6 has been buzzing with enthusiasm for learning all week! The students have been busy creating openings for their portal story through a ‘magical’ tunnel and the students crafted some amazing openings for their stories. They were most excited to crawl through a play tunnel as they imagined what realm their magical tunnel might lead to. In Science, the students were introduced to the circulatory system and they thoroughly enjoyed making ‘blood’ in a bottle as well as asking fascinating questions about the components of blood. In Mathematics, they also bravely tackled numbers to the millions and worked hard to apply their skills to solve some tricky problems.
