1st December 2024
What a busy first term we have had in Upper School! We have begun rehearsals for our upcoming production 'Pirates versus Merrows'! Please remind your child to learn their lines over the long holiday. Have a look at some of our highlights from Years 4, 5 and 6.
Year 4:
The students have been thrilled to jump right into Braeburn History Week. They have been studying the changes that have taken place in the library over the last nine years and even interviewed BDIS first librarian, Mrs Kaaya, and our current librarian, Mrs Msale.
Year 5:
The students delved into the history of how Braeburn has grown, from its early days to the school we know today. A standout moment was an online interview with the first-ever PE teacher, now based in Sri Lanka, who shared interesting memories and inspiring stories about the school’s beginnings. They also connected History Week with our English lessons, where we wrote instructional texts inspired by a heartfelt letter from the first Deputy Headteacher, now leading at another Braeburn school in Kenya. It’s been a week of learning, creativity, and discovering our school's roots, leaving us proud to be part of Braeburn's legacy!
Year 6:
Over the past few weeks, the students have been exploring the world of electricity including learning how to stay safe around electrical appliances. The students also worked carefully to build and test electrical circuits and even varied the voltage in their circuits to test the effect of voltage on a motor and fan. The students also thoroughly enjoyed their Tehzib Art Workshop with Mrs Esmail, learning how to carefully trace a geometric design using clay, and selecting complementary colours to create a beautiful piece of artwork.
