10th June 2025
As we wrap up the third term, our Secondary Computing students have been fully engaged in exciting and meaningful topics that develop their computational thinking, programming, and analytical skills. Here is an overview of what each year group has been focusing on this term:
Year 7 – Control Systems with Flowol
Our Year 7 students have been introduced to control systems using Flowol, a powerful tool that helps them understand the basics of automation and logical control. They have been designing flowcharts and building simulations of real-world systems, such as traffic lights and washing machines, developing essential problem-solving skills.
Year 8 – Animation
Creativity continues to thrive in Year 8 as they refine their skills in animation. Students are deepening their understanding of key animation concepts, applying these to develop more sophisticated and engaging projects using animation software. Their final creations demonstrate both technical expertise and imaginative storytelling.
Year 9.5 Computer Science – IGCSE Foundations
Our Year 9.5 students have embarked on their IGCSE Computer Science journey, starting with key foundational topics such as data representation, variables, and arithmetic operations. They are building a solid understanding of how computers process and store information, setting the stage for further topics in the coming terms.
Year 10 – Trace Tables, Flowcharts, and Pseudocode
Year 10 students are developing vital skills in algorithmic thinking by creating trace tables, flowcharts, and pseudocode. These tools help them plan, analyse, and test algorithms systematically, preparing them well for more complex programming and problem-solving tasks in their IGCSE course.
Year 11 Computer Science – IGCSE Examinations Completed
Our Year 11 students have completed their IGCSE Computer Science examinations. We are proud of their hard work and dedication throughout the year and wish them the very best as they await their results.
Year 12 – CIE AS Computer Science Examinations Completed
Year 12 students have also completed their CIE AS Computer Science examinations. Their commitment to their studies has been exemplary, and we look forward to supporting them as they progress into the next phase of their education.
We congratulate all our students on their progress and achievements this term. Parents and guardians, thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our Computing curriculum, please feel free to get in touch.
