Remembering Jane Goodall (1934 – 2025)
We are saddened to share that on October 1, 2025, the world lost Jane Goodall, a scientist, explorer, and tireless friend of animals and nature. Jane dedicated her life to understanding chimpanzees in the wild and teaching us about the importance of protecting all living creatures.
From a young girl in England who loved animals, Jane grew into a groundbreaking scientist in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania, where she discovered that chimpanzees use tools, have strong emotions, and form deep friendships—just like humans. Her work changed the way people see animals and inspired generations of young scientists.
Jane’s passion went beyond research. Through the Jane Goodall Institute and her Roots & Shoots program, she encouraged children and adults worldwide to care for animals, forests, and our planet. She believed that even small actions can make a difference.
Though Jane has passed, her legacy lives on in the animals she protected, the forests she fought to save, and the countless young people she inspired to love and protect nature. As we remember her, let us celebrate her curiosity, kindness, and dedication, and carry forward her mission to care for our world.
