We have kicked off our Computing lessons with lots of excitement! Here's a little look at what each year group is working on:
Year 1:
We are learning all about Technology and how it helps us in our daily lives. We have also learned the main parts of a computer and are practising turning it on and logging in all by ourselves.
Year 2:
We are exploring how we use ‘Information Technology’ at school and now we are starting to think about how technology is used outside of school, like at home or in shops and how different devices can work together.
Year 3:
We are discovering how ‘Digital Devices’ work and how they can change the way we do things. We are also comparing digital tools with non-digital ones to see how they are similar and different.
Year 4:
We are learning about the ‘Internet’, the devices we use to access it, and how to stay safe while browsing. We are also looking into how we access the World Wide Web and who owns the content we see online.
Year 5:
We are digging into the idea of ‘Digital Systems’ and learning how different devices and processes connect to make a system work. Soon, we will be learning about search engines and how they help us find information.
Year 6:
We are focusing on ‘Effective Communication’ and learning how computers talk to each other using IP addresses and rules. Later, we will explore different ways people communicate online and think about which methods work best for different situations.
