Primary Computing

30th September 2023

We have had a fantastic start to the computing lessons! Here is a sneak peek of what the children are doing over this term.

What’s happening in KS1?

Our Years 1 and 2 are exploring the educational platform called ‘Purple Mash’ and engaging themselves in curriculum-focused activities via interactive tools, programmes and games. The children are beginning to look into ‘Online Safety’ and how to stay safe online. They have been referring to the 3 simple rules to follow if they come across something online that upsets them:

  1. STOP - Stop what you are doing. Do not click on the page or reply to any messages.
  2. CLOSE - Close your laptop, put away your phone or tablet.
  3. TELL - Tell a trusted adult

Welcome to the Computing Corner, Year 3!

We're excited to kick off the new academic year with some exciting adventures in computing. To start off, we've been focusing on Online Safety. This is super important because as digital citizens, we need to know how to stay safe online.

We've been using Purple Mash, a fantastic web-based application, to explore different aspects of online safety. So far, we've learned about creating strong passwords, identifying and avoiding cyberbullying, and understanding the importance of privacy settings.

Now, we're moving on to something equally exciting - spreadsheets! In the coming weeks, we'll be diving into the world of spreadsheets and learning how to organise data, perform calculations, and create charts. Get ready for some spreadsheet magic!

Remember, in the digital world, safety and knowledge go hand in hand. So, let's stay safe online and get ready to crunch some numbers together!

Hello Year 4 Tech Wizards!

The new academic year has started with a blast, and we've been diving headfirst into the world of computing. We began by focusing on Online Safety, where we learned how to stay safe while surfing the web, chatting with friends, and playing online games.

Our trusty companion for this journey has been Purple Mash, a web-based application that's been helping us explore different aspects of online safety. From understanding the importance of strong passwords to recognising phishing scams, we've covered it all.

Now, it's time for a new adventure - spreadsheets! We're going to become spreadsheet pros. In the upcoming lessons, we'll be learning how to organise data, create tables, and even make colourful charts. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Remember, our digital journey is all about learning and staying safe. So, keep those online safety tips in mind as we embark on this spreadsheet adventure!

Welcome Back, Year 5 Tech Enthusiasts!

The new academic year is off to a fantastic start, and we've been diving deep into the world of computing. First, we focused on Online Safety to ensure that we're responsible digital citizens. Thanks to Purple Mash, we've become experts in online safety, from creating strong passwords to recognising online dangers.

Now, it's time for a new challenge - spreadsheets! We're going to unleash our inner data wizards. Over the next few weeks, we'll be learning how to use spreadsheets to organise information, perform calculations, and visualise data through graphs and charts.

We know you're up for the task, and we can't wait to see what amazing things you'll create with spreadsheets. Remember, along with your computing skills, always keep those online safety lessons close to heart as you explore the digital world!

Greetings, Year 6 Tech Maestros!

The new academic year has begun, and we're embarking on an exciting journey in computing. We started by focusing on Online Safety and understanding the importance of responsible online behaviour. Thanks to Purple Mash, we've covered a wide range of online safety topics, ensuring that we're well-prepared digital citizens.

Now, it's time to delve into the world of spreadsheets! Get ready to become spreadsheet gurus. In the coming weeks, we'll be mastering the art of organising data, performing complex calculations, and creating stunning charts and graphs.

Year 6, you're on the verge of becoming a true computing expert, and we're thrilled to guide you through this adventure. Just remember, as we navigate the digital world, our online safety knowledge will always be our guiding light.

Stay tuned for more exciting computing lessons and keep those tech-savvy brains buzzing!
