PRIMARY ARTS DAY

25th February 2023

‘Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else’ -Sydney Gurewitz Clemens

Thursday was ‘Arts Day’ where we discarded our usual timetable for a day of creation and process. In the morning the children had a carousel of activities using different art modalities and this was followed with an informal music and speaking presentation from our students who are learning an instrument and practising for their Lamda exams as well as some more collaborative art and a chance to create a self portrait. It was lots of fun and the children really understood that the journey to a final product (a finished painting, or a flawless performance) is just as or even more important. We saw confidence, responsibility and learners enjoying success. Congratulations to you all.
