Celebrating Touch Rugby and Preparing for Athletics and Sports Day.

The Physical Education department is delighted to share the incredible progress our learners have made throughout the touch rugby module. The learners dedication and enthusiasm have truly shone through, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements. Over the past half-term, our students have been actively engaged in learning and practising touch rugby. Through this sport, they have not only honed their ball handling and movement skills but also developed a deep understanding of attacking and creating territory, as well as defending to prevent invasion. It has been inspiring to witness their growth and improvement in these areas.

During the touch rugby lessons, our learners have shown exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and a willingness to challenge themselves. They have embraced the values of fair play, respect, and perseverance, which are integral to physical education. Whether it was working together to execute a well-coordinated attack or defending with determination, their commitment has been truly commendable.

We are thrilled to announce that after the half-term break, we will be transitioning into our Athletics module. This course will focus on various track and field events, allowing our students to develop essential athletic skills and prepare for the highly anticipated Sports Day, scheduled for Saturday, 1st July 2023. Sports Day is an eagerly awaited event that brings together our entire school community. It is a day filled with excitement, friendly competition, and a celebration of physical fitness and healthy living. Our learners will have the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills and compete in a range of track and field events, including sprints, long jump, javelin, discus, shot put, and relay races. The Athletics sessions will not only provide our students with the tools to excel on Sports Day but also offer them valuable life lessons such as goal setting, perseverance, and self-discipline. They will learn the importance of proper warm-up exercises, effective running techniques, and the mental strategies required for success in various athletic endeavours.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the parents and guardians who have consistently shown support for our Physical Education programme. Your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in fostering a love for sports and physical activity among our learners.

In closing, we want to reiterate our pride in the progress our students have made during the touch rugby lessons. Their dedication and enthusiasm have laid a strong foundation for success in Athletics and Sports Day. Let us continue to work together to provide our learners with a well-rounded physical education experience that promotes lifelong fitness and enjoyment.

Wishing you all a productive and exciting term ahead! And let us meet on 1st July 2023.
