Nursery Rhyme Week

Nursery Rhyme Week

Nursery Rhyme Week saw the Early Years and Primary classes learn five different rhymes in five days. On Monday our focus was ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ followed by ‘1,2,3,4,5’, ‘B.I.N.G.O’, ‘The Big Ship Sails' and ended on Friday with “Five Little Speckled Frogs’. The children sang these songs each morning and were given the opportunity to design hats based on these rhymes. The winners for the best hat design were given a prize during our celebration assembly.

Some classes made additional artwork based on the rhyme of that particular day which further supported their language skills. The Early Years department finished the week by leading our Friday assembly in a sing-along of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ which incorporated Makaton, a language programme which uses signs, symbols and speech to communicate.

It truly was a fantastic week of learning through song and creative arts.
