Our trip this February to Kenya was nothing short of spectacular, enjoyable and amazing.
Despite it taking over 10 hours to reach Nairobi, some of the hours spent in a bus, suffocated by the noises of people laughing and snoring, we enjoyed every bit of this journey. Some of us left Nairobi in tears, our hearts swollen with bliss and honor, but angst and sorrow too!
From waking up at 6 am every single morning (with difficultly!) to sleeping at 11 pm every night, our days flew by and our nights swept through us, leaving us in shock as we packed up ready to head back home, after what had only felt like a day, rather than a week.
Yes, the MUN part was difficult and scary, as this was our first time at a live conference, but it was bursting with new adventures and learning experiences that left a mark on our hearts that will forever stay.
We debated and agreed, fought and resolved over 20 resolutions each in our committees, welcomed innovative ideas and supported well-wrote resolutions, each delegate trying to help our world in the slightest ways that we can.
We made new friends along the way, some old, some young, but all equally wonderful, helping us through each day; providing us with comfort and love, as if we had been friends forever, despite knowing each other for only a few days.
But the best part was definitely what happened after MUN conferences each day! Oh, the wonderful trips to the biggest malls in Nairobi had us chilled to the bones, with fascinating sites everywhere we went, including a waterpark in the middle of a playground! The food, shops, clothes and people were all AMAZING! We had a blast, and we all agreed that this has been one of the most memorable trips we have been on, one that would have been impossible without the support of our teachers, friends and family, and we definitely want to go back next year, stronger than before, ready to let loose the whirlwind of love and friendship that had welcomed us to Kenya.
