Model United Nations (MUN)
Ms Moore and Mr Al-Ghailani have been really proud of the start that students have made in Model United Nations (MUN). More experienced members of the group have led sessions, and their advice and guidance for others has been invaluable. It has been great to see the platform it has given all students to express their views and opinions. It looks like we have some future world leaders in our midst!
However, who better to hear it from than the students themselves, with some of their initial experiences in the club outlined below.

This week, our MUN delegates were introduced to what Model United Nations is all about: its global aims, the importance of collaboration and the role each member plays in creating change for the better.
Delegates explored the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, learned key vocabulary and gained an understanding of how a typical debate is structured. Looking ahead, the club will run a mock debate to simulate real UN discussions, helping prepare members for future MUN events.

Joining Model United Nations for the first time was both exciting and a little intimidating. Since I was new to the club, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I quickly realized that MUN is more than just debates- it’s a place to learn, share ideas and grow.
At first, I was nervous about speaking in front of others, especially because many students already seemed confident and experienced. But the supportive environment helped me feel more comfortable. I learned how to represent a country, research global issues, and think about solutions from different perspectives. It also showed me how important teamwork, respect, and clear communication are when discussing world challenges.
One of my favorite parts was listening to other delegates. Everyone brought unique arguments and creative ideas to the table, and it pushed me to think in new ways. Even though I was just starting, I felt proud whenever I contributed to the discussion.
Overall, my first experience in MUN taught me that it’s okay to step outside of my comfort zone. I gained confidence, new skills, and a better understanding of global issues. I’m looking forward to learning more and improving with every session.
