As we immerse ourselves in the realms of French and Kiswahili, our secondary MFL students continue to make remarkable strides in refining their language skills. Let's embark on a brief tour to discover the captivating linguistic adventures unfolding across each year group.

French:

This term, KS3 students have relished expanding upon the solid foundation laid in the previous sessions through the modernised French curriculum.

Y7 and Y9 recently concluded a comprehensive module of work, undergoing summative assessments encompassing Reading, Speaking, Writing, Listening, and grammatical evaluations. Some of the results were commendable, showcasing budding linguists in every class.

Y8 is gearing up for similar assessments, aiming to articulate and comprehend more intricate and elaborate sentences. They are utilizing a diverse range of engaging resources, including educational videos developed by the French Ministry of Education, providing context with real-life situations, French school scenarios, contemporary artists, and songs.

Meanwhile, Y10 and Y11 are diligently navigating through the IGCSE syllabus, preparing for their impending exams. Y10 is presently focused on self-expression and sharing information about themselves and their daily lives. In contrast, Y11 is mastering various oral tenses with spontaneity.

Overall, it has been a highly productive and encouraging term for our French learners.

Kiswahili:

In Year 7, our students are exploring 'Ngeli za majina' (noun classes), understanding the word transformations within singular and plural contexts. Crafting sentences using these words has been an exciting venture, incorporating adjectives that add depth to our storytelling in Kiswahili.

Year 8 students are composing a unique symphony with words, comprehending seven crucial word groups. This knowledge serves as a strong foundation, empowering them to become language virtuosos, enhancing their language usage in sophisticated ways.

Moving to Year 9, our students embark on a grand language expedition, delving into diverse language aspects such as word mechanics and essay writing. They are excelling in coherent communication, exploring topics like time, seasons, and various locales within town, from bustling markets to serene hospitals and active government offices.
