Library on Wheels: Delivering the Gift of Reading

22nd June 2026

Books, Community and Service in Action

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." — Mahatma Gandhi

Over the past few weeks, our dedicated EarlyAct and Interact students have been hard at work bringing the Library-on-Wheels Project to life. From collecting, counting and sorting donated books to preparing and painting the mobile library structure with anti-rust paint and its vibrant coat of Braeburn Blue, students embraced every stage of the project with enthusiasm and commitment.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Braeburn Dar community, an impressive 500 books were collected for Salasala Primary School. These donations will help promote literacy, inspire a love of reading and strengthen the growing partnership between our two school communities.

A special congratulations goes to Year 3, Year 4 and Year 8, who were our top contributors to the book drive. Their outstanding efforts were celebrated with a well-earned pizza party, kindly sponsored by our Mother Club, Rotary Bahari.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to Rotary Bahari for their generous donation of half a million Tanzanian shillings, which funded the construction of the Library-on-Wheels. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the school's operations and support staff, whose creativity and hard work helped make the project possible. In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, they cleverly repurposed an old Braeburn metal sign during construction, ensuring that a piece of our school's history will continue its journey at Salasala Primary School.

This project is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make this meaningful initiative a reality.
