We had a wonderful time celebrating Swahili Cultural Day at our school. Both primary and secondary students dressed up in colourful Swahili clothes, adding to the festive atmosphere. The day was filled with fun activities, including music and drama performances, art designing kanga and kitenge patterns, and exploring Swahili literature through poetry. Students also enjoyed playing traditional Swahili games like cards, bao, draft, and rede, making jewellery, and drawing henna designs. The day ended with a joint assembly where we celebrated and shared what we had been doing throughout the day. It was a memorable and educational experience for everyone, providing a great opportunity to learn about and appreciate Swahili culture.
As the year is about to be wrapped up, the KS3 classes are doing their final sprint with assessments. Many new topics were covered this year and all classes are now getting into more complex grammatical concepts and more elaborate sentences. Years 7 and 9 have also done research on the coming up Olympic Games next month in Paris and the history behind the original games and its revival. The classes also researched about Tanzanian and East African Olympians and current participants. The KS4 classes learned how to write an artistic description of their favourite painting and photo in French.
As the year is about to draw to a close, the French department wishes everybody Bonnes Vacances et Bon Voyage!
