Lamda

18th March 2023

This term during our LAMDA club we have been working on covering the core elements of Level 2 (Grade 4 and 5) Award in Public Speaking. In this level, learners are required to be able to select an appropriate subject matter for their speech as well as prepare and deliver two speeches from memory. They are also expected to effectively prepare and study their topics as they will be questioned on the skills required for preparing their speeches. Our main focus this term was to set a foundation on how to write and execute a speech that is geared towards a target audience while communicating a clear and concise message. Each learner was required to choose their own topic, carry out some research and structure their speech in a clear and effective manner. Additionally, we covered how to use appropriate vocabulary that would suit the target audience and engage listeners. All in all, the skills that have been covered this term help Public Speaking learners understand the genesis of a speech which is good planning and excellent writing with the aim of communicating a compelling message.
