Throughout this term, our students have made tremendous progress in their understanding and usage of Kiswahili. We have explored various aspects of the language and its cultural significance.
Our Year 1 students have been exploring the wonders of the sky. They have learned to identify objects in the sky during the day and night, observed different weather conditions, and explored colors. Additionally, they have been counting and writing numbers while enjoying the songs we sang together in class.
In Year 2, our focus has been on the Swahili alphabet and syllables. Students have been practicing forming words within their familiar environment. This has allowed them to expand their vocabulary and develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Year 3 and 4 students have been diving into the world of tenses. They have learned about different tenses and their usage, and have been constructing simple sentences accordingly. This has helped them develop a better understanding of sentence structure and proper verb usage.
Year 5 students have continued their journey in grammar. They have explored adjectives and pronouns, focusing on their usage and placement within sentences. They have also expanded their knowledge of sentence construction in different tenses and practiced making sentences negative.
In Year 6, students have been expanding their vocabulary. They have learned about the human body organs, enabling them to describe and discuss various body parts. They have also been practicing asking and giving directions using compass directions and other locative words. Additionally, they have honed their writing skills by practicing writing short paragraphs.
We commend our students for their engagement and progress in these topics.
As we look ahead to the next term, we are excited to continue this journey of language exploration and learning. Together, we will build upon these foundations and further enhance our Kiswahili skills.
