As we delve into the second half of term 1 of the school year, we would like to update you on the exciting progress our students are making in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Year 7: Exploring the World of 3D Game Programming with Kodu

Our Year 7 students have been enthusiastically immersing themselves in the world of 3D game programming using Kodu. It's inspiring to witness their creativity come to life as they design and build their interactive games. The Kodu platform not only provides an engaging introduction to programming but also fosters problem-solving skills and teamwork.

Year 8: Understanding Computers and the Language of Binary

In Year 8, students are deepening their understanding of computers and delving into the fundamentals of binary code. This foundational knowledge is crucial for their grasp of computer systems and lays the groundwork for more advanced concepts. The students are making remarkable progress as they decode the language of computers and gain insights into the inner workings of technology.

Year 9: Navigating the World of Databases

Year 9 students have embarked on a journey into the world of databases. They are learning how to organise, manage, and retrieve data efficiently. Understanding the importance of databases in modern information systems is a key aspect of their education, and we are impressed with their ability to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Year 10: Exploring Storage Devices and Media

In Year 10, our students are focusing on storage devices and media. They are gaining valuable insights into the various storage options available and understanding the impact of media on digital communication. The practical component involves working on presentations using master slides, enhancing their skills in effective communication and design.

Year 11: Unleashing the Power of ICT Applications

Our Year 11 students are immersing themselves in the practical applications of ICT, particularly in computer modelling and computer-controlled systems. This advanced level of study enables them to explore the integration of technology in various fields. Currently, they are channelling their efforts into mastering spreadsheets, a skill highly applicable in both academic and professional settings.
