Second Term – Academic Year 2024/2025
As we progress through the second term, our Secondary ICT students have been actively engaged in a variety of exciting topics that build their digital skills and enhance their understanding of technology. Here is a glimpse of what each year group has been focusing on:
Year 7 – HTML and Website Development
Our Year 7 students have embarked on an exciting journey into web design, learning how to create and structure web pages using HTML. They have been exploring key elements such as headings, paragraphs, links, images, and lists. By the end of the term, they will have built their own simple websites, demonstrating their understanding of the fundamentals of web development.
Year 8 – Animation
Creativity is at the forefront of Year 8’s learning as they dive into the world of animation. Students have been introduced to animation principles and have started working on creating their own animated sequences. They are using software tools to design and animate characters, developing both technical and storytelling skills. We look forward to seeing their final projects!
Year 9 – Graphic Design
Our Year 9 students are exploring the fundamentals of graphic design, learning how to use digital tools to create visually engaging content. They are developing skills in layering images, using typography effectively, and understanding the importance of white space in design. By the end of the term, they will have completed creative projects that showcase their ability to produce professional-looking designs.
Year 10 – Databases
Year 10 students have been focusing on database management, learning how to structure, query, and manipulate data efficiently. They are working with database software to create and manage relational databases, gaining skills that are essential for data organization and analysis. This knowledge is crucial as they progress further into their ICT studies.
Year 11 – Website Authoring & IGCSE Revision
Our Year 11 students have successfully completed the practical components of their ICT course, including website authoring. They have built and refined websites, applying their knowledge of HTML and CSS. Now, their focus has shifted to revising for their final IGCSE examinations. We encourage them to continue practicing past papers and refining their understanding to ensure success in their upcoming exams.
Year 12 – Sensors and Control Systems
In Year 12, students have been learning how sensors are used in control systems, exploring real-world applications such as automated environments and industrial processes. In their practical sessions, they are working on designing structure charts as part of the programming development lifecycle, helping them understand the importance of planning and system design in programming.
We are proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our students have shown this term. As always, we encourage parents and guardians to support their children in their ICT learning journey. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the curriculum, please feel free to reach out.
