Geography at Braeburn continues to shine brightly with enthusiastic and engaged students.
Year 11 are revising the whole syllabus ready for their forthcoming examination. We wish them every success and expect them to rise to the challenge by doing their very best.
Year 10 have been exploring how to record and interpret weather data. We are now exploring climate around the world and examining how species adapt.
Year 9 have been developing their physical geography knowledge relating to plate tectonics, earthquakes, tsunami and volcanoes. They looked at the causes, impacts and examples from around the world. Students made the volcano eruption models using household items. They finished off by doing the end of KS3 test.
Year 8 have been learning about weather and climate. They looked at how weather is recorded, causes of weather and the difference between the weather and climate. We are now learning about climate change from the ice age to present and how human processes and natural systems influence and change the climate. We will then explore the world’s largest continent by both land area and population; the continent of Asia.
Year 7 started off the term by extending their locational knowledge and deepening their spatial awareness of the world’s countries focusing on the continent of Africa, its environmental regions, key physical features, human characteristics, countries and major cities. We will then explore Tanzania’s physical and human geography and some of its links with other countries in terms of business, tourism and investment.
