Students have been exploring different ways of making fashion illustrations using different media. They have also been making their own versions of contemporary abstract art, a broad and evolving field, which explores non-representational forms and techniques, emphasizing colour, shape, texture, and composition, often exploring emotions and concepts rather than depicting recognizable objects.

Key Characteristics of Abstract Art:

  • Non-Representational:

Abstract art does not aim to depict the world realistically but instead uses lines, shapes, colours, and forms to create an expressive and often subjective experience.

  • Emphasis on Form and Composition:

Artists focus on the visual elements within the artwork itself, such as colour, texture, and the arrangement of shapes, rather than replicating a scene or object.

  • Emotional and Conceptual:

Abstract art can evoke strong emotions and explore complex ideas, allowing for a variety of interpretations and personal experiences.

  • Freedom of Form and Interpretation:

Abstract art allows for a wide range of artistic expression and encourages viewers to engage with the artwork on a personal level.
