EARLYACT TREE PLANTING

TREE PLANTING

This past week, our eager Earlyactors and Interactors along with some Year 11 students and our Rotaract friends at the University of Dar es Salaam, set off to Sala Sala Primary School (the recipients of our Daftari Drive) to plant 20 'Dodoma' trees, shade-covering trees that are fast growing. These trees will help prevent soil erosion but also beautify the school premises and provide its students with much needed shade cover as the school is built on a slope. Rotary Club has a goal of planting 3600 trees this year and our students have planted 20 trees towards this goal, which is commendable. Our students were active, global citizens in using full-sized farming tools to dig holes and truly impressed the adults by working so hard to loosen the ground as well as carefully transferring tree saplings into these holes. They were also mindful about recycling the plastic containers the trees were originally planted in. Our students came away with many life lessons and a greater appreciation for the many blessings they receive as Braeburn students. They are passionate about doing more for Sala Sala Primary School. Join us in improving the lives of students at this local school.
