Celebrating the Spoken Word and Collaborative Work

Welcome to the latest edition of our Drama newsletter, where we shine a spotlight on the achievements of our talented students in Year 7, 8 and 9. Over the last two or so weeks, these budding performers have dedicated themselves to mastering the art of spoken word. They have been engaging in a range of activities such as group choral performances, poems, and monologues on various thought-provoking topics.

In Year 9, Brianna had a powerful recitation of a poignant monologue exploring themes of identity and self-acceptance. In the IGCSE Drama option class, our students have embarked on a new journey of collaborative tasks and devised work. They are actively engaged in learning how to create a log of their collaborative efforts, allowing them to reflect on their progress and growth as performers. This process nurtures their creativity and encourages teamwork, building essential skills for future endeavors.

In addition to being a part of the curriculum, our Drama programme also offers extracurricular opportunities for students to further develop and refine their communication and public speaking skills.

We are getting into the casting season for our annual Drama production and students are involved in this process from the outset so that they take ownership of the production later in the year.
