This week, our Year 10 students explored the fascinating world of separating mixtures—a key concept in Chemistry that is vital in industries such as medicine, food, and environmental science. Understanding these methods helps learners see how science solves real-life problems, from purifying water to testing for food safety.
The highlight of the session was an engaging Chromatography practical. Pupils experimented with separating colours in inks, discovering how this powerful technique is used in forensic science, drug testing, and quality control. Their curiosity sparked as they watched hidden pigments travel up the paper, creating vibrant patterns!
Hands-on activities like this not only deepen understanding but also make science exciting and relevant. We are proud of our young scientists for their enthusiasm and teamwork!
