Activity Week

1st July 2024

Barcelona

Hola amigos y familiares. ¿Cómo estás? What a fantastic time we had in Barcelona! All of the students were amazing. Despite having their usual routines and rhythms disrupted, and often walking over 15km a day, the students never complained. We did so much in the time we were there. From visiting Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, to climbing up to Montserrat monastery in the mountains. Enjoying the rollercoaster rides of PortAventura, to visiting Barcelona’s Camp Nou, to enjoying the fun of the amazing Balloon exhibition and so much more! We were so proud when so many people came up to us teachers to say how impressed they were with the students’ attitude and behaviour. They represented us so well. We hope all of the students took some amazing memories from Barcelona, and some amazing life lessons too!

InSchool Activity Week Highlights

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to share the fantastic experiences from our recent Activity Week for the group that stayed at school. The week was filled with a variety of enriching activities, games and the joy and enthusiasm of our students were truly contagious.

Our STEM workshops kicked off the week, sparking curiosity and innovation as students engaged in hands-on experiments and exciting projects. From building simple machines to coding their own mini-programmes, the budding scientists and engineers showed remarkable creativity and teamwork.

The rhythm of the week continued with our vibrant music sessions. Students explored different musical genres, learned to play new instruments, and even composed their own pieces. The melodies and harmonies created during these workshops echoed through the halls, filling the school with a wonderful musical spirit.

In the art and dance workshops, creativity took centre stage. Students expressed themselves through various art forms, from painting and sculpture to contemporary dance. The dance workshops were particularly lively, with students mastering new routines and performing with energy and flair.

A highlight for many was the treasure hunt, an adventure that combined problem-solving with physical activity. Clues and challenges led the students across the school grounds, fostering a sense of camaraderie and excitement as they worked together to uncover hidden treasures.

The week culminated in a delightful trip to Ndoto Pole Pole in Bagamoyo. This serene location provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection. Students enjoyed exploring the beautiful surroundings, learning about the local culture, and simply unwinding after an action-packed week.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to more adventures and learning experiences in the future.

Zanzibar Watersports

During activities week we took 14 students to Zanzibar to enjoy a variety of watersports. We travelled by ferry and enjoyed a lovely lunch and a walk around stone town before heading to beautiful Kendwa. The students enjoyed parasailing, a banana boat ride, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and snorkelling. We also had time to enjoy Jozani forest and see the monkeys and the beautiful beach and pool. The students were wonderful and represented the school exceptionally well. Both myself and Mr Kassim had a lovely time with the students and we are looking forward to our next adventure with them.
