Exciting Computing Adventures Await in 2024!

Happy New Year! We hope you all had a fantastic break and are ready for an exciting second term filled with new learning adventures. We're thrilled to share the fantastic developments happening in the Computing department.

Years 1 and 2: Introduction to Basic Programming

Our KS1 students have been introduced to early programming concepts. They are experimenting with Bee-Bot which is a colourful, easy-to-operate and friendly little robot. Children are exploring using individual commands with each other and as part of a computer programme. They thoroughly enjoy exploring this wonderful tool and want to know about their cute, little newly-made friend!

Year 3: Exploring the World of Email

In Year 3, our young learners are embarking on an exciting journey into the world of communication as they delve into the basics of Email. Understanding the fundamentals of electronic communication is a crucial skill in today's digital age, and we're confident that our Year 3 students will master this skill with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Year 4: Unleashing Creativity with Animation

For our Year 4 students, the second term is all about Animation! They will learn the art and science of bringing images to life through motion. From basic principles to more advanced techniques, our Year 4s will be discovering the magic of animation and expressing their creativity in unique and exciting ways.

Year 5: Designing Games with Game Creators

Year 5 students are in for a treat as they dive into the world of Game Creators. This term, they will explore the fundamentals of game design and development, and even try their hands at creating their simple games.

Year 6: Navigating Text Adventures

In Year 6, the focus shifts to Text Adventure. Students will be honing their programming and storytelling skills as they create interactive stories using text-based commands. It's an excellent opportunity for them to apply their knowledge and unleash their imagination in crafting engaging and dynamic adventures.

We encourage parents and guardians to engage with their children about these exciting topics. Discussing their projects and asking questions about what they've learned can enhance their understanding and foster a love for technology.

We're looking forward to a term filled with creativity, exploration, and innovation in the world of Computing. Thank you for your continued support, and here's to a fantastic year ahead!
