A Brilliant Start to Mathematics

Welcome Back to a Brilliant New Term of mathematics at Braeburn Dar es Salaam! Welcoming Our New Year 7s A special, warm Braeburn welcome goes out to our Year 7 cohort as they take their exciting first steps into secondary school! Transitioning to secondary life brings new schedules, new subjects, and new teacher specialists. Speaking of new faces, we are thrilled to introduce Miss Sege, who joins us as our new mathematics teacher. She is already inspiring our students with engaging lessons and helping Year 7 build strong foundational skills for the years ahead. Crucial Milestones in Secondary & Sixth Form Our older year groups are diving straight into critical academic phases:  Year 9: Students are officially kicking off their IGCSE journey in mathematics! They are enjoying the challenge and are setting the foundation for independent thinking.  Year 11: Entering the home stretch, our Year 11s are approaching the final lap of their IGCSE studies. Focus and dedication will be key as they prepare for their upcoming mock and final examinations.  Year 12: Stepping up to A-Level Mathematics, our Year 12 mathematicians have hit the ground running. In Pure Mathematics, they are currently mastering the intricacies of quadratic equations, while in Mechanics, they are tackling motion using SUVAT equations and applying Newton’s Laws to physical systems. Shoutout of the Week: Exceptional Graphing Skills! Across multiple year groups, teachers have been incredibly impressed by the precision and accuracy displayed in mathematics classrooms. A high number of students have been demonstrating outstanding graph-drawing skills this week—paying close attention to neat axes, precise plotting, and clear labelling.

Here is a linear graph by Lulu in year 9, a cubic graph by Mathilda in year 10 and an exponential graph by Shannen in year 11.
